Galloway is renowned for the quality of its locally produced food and rightly so.  Visitors can enjoy discovering specialist suppliers like The Marberry Smokehouse and Cream of Galloway while basic provisions can be bought close-by in Balmaclellan which has an excellent shop stocking all necessities as well as a great variety of delicious produce. There is a very well stocked community run shop in New Galloway .

Castle Douglas - 'Food Town' is only about half an hour's drive from Covenanters Cottage.  Here there are over 50 food related businesses in the town including cafés, restaurants, delicatessens, butchers, bakers, grocers and chocolate makers... mouth watering?  Go to www.cd-foodtown.org

For those wishing to do a 'basic shop,'perhaps en-route to Covenanters Cottage there's a choice of major supermarkets locally.
