Covenanters Cottage sits within 6 acres of woodland garden. Yews, cedars and a variety of pine trees all frame the house perfectly against the magnificent backdrop of the Galloway Hills which include The Rhinns of Kells. Other pretty specimen trees are dotted around the undulating land with discreet hideaways where you can either relax with a good book, or simply sit and soak up the peaceful atmosphere. Take a stroll around the recently landscaped formal garden based on the Balmaclellan mirror which is housed in the National Museum of Scotland. From where ever you are the views are quite remarkable and it's exceptionally quiet too. So much so that you are very likely to spot some of the garden's frequent visitors which include red squirrels, red kites, buzzards and many other varieties of bird. Red deer often graze nearby. This includes a young stag who frequently passes by on his way to join his hinds.
